But, as a spin off on his <a href="http://http://www.strategicprofits.com/doctrinenew/" target="_blank">Attention Age Doctrine</a>, I will try to show you that right now there is a significant shift happening in the digital space that’s well worth your time to investigate.

<p>Perhaps in time we’ll look back on this stage of the Internet’s development as the “co-operative/ co-mpetitive Age”</p>
<p>Dude, what are you getting at?</p>
<p>On paper Socialism made perfect sense.  Since you operate as part of the economy, as a cog in the wheel, if you will, then you should have a stake in the ownership of that wheel.  Everyone who puts into the system should in turn be entitled to a share that allows them to take back out of it too.</p>
<p>Problem was that in reality, it damned well sucked to live in a world run by communism (later)</p>
<p>But in a sense the Internet is a new world right? A world where many of us live, at least in a sense, since we spend so much time here.  And in this new world it is possible to change the rules, if we wish, you know, to make the world better.</p>
<p>Well if you contribute to this world (by way of a blog post, a forum thread, etc) then should or could it not be possible to take a percentage share in its ownership?</p>
<p>Its happening, Social networking and Web 2.0 are forcing us to rethink the rules and in this new world it is becoming possible to become an owner simply by being a contributor…</p>

<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">Or are we simply going through a readjustment phase?</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">Michel Fortin weighs in:</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">&nbsp;</p>
<p style="font-weight: bold; font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">&#8220;Internet marketing is correcting itself.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">When the stock market tumbles, short of a full-on crash, they call it a “correction.” Sometimes it happens precipitously. Other times, it takes place over a period of time.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">Likewise, I believe that Internet marketing, right now, is going through a similar correction. It may not be as precipitous as the stock market, but it’s indeed quite significant.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">To explain what I mean, let me back up a bit.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">If you’ve read Geoffrey Moore’s “<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossing_the_Chasm">Crossing The Chasm</a>,” then you understand the product adoption curve. (In marketing and academic circles, they call it the “Diffusion Process.”)</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">In plain English, it means that new markets go through a certain adoption process that looks very much like a bell curve.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">At first, new products are consumed by the innovators and early adopters (i.e., niche and early markets). They’re the type of people who buy new things the moment they come out.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">Then, they are consumed by the majority (i.e., mainstream markets, at the top of the bell curve, where products get widely adopted by the majority of people).</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">Finally, the laggards make up the late markets. They usually wait until everyone else has tried the products, which are no longer new.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">According to Moore, between the niches and the mainstream, there’s a gap. A chasm, as he calls it, especially with technology. It’s where things seem to slow down once a product has saturated the early markets.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">But then, after a while, something happens.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">The product, if and when it crosses the chasm, enters the mainstream (often called the “middle” or just the “majority”), and becomes widespread.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">This is where the bulk of the market lies (about 68% of the market pie, according to studies). And often, it happens fast. Very fast. (For example, Moore’s follow-up book, “Inside the Tornado,” explains this in detail.)</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">What does this mean in terms of Internet marketing?</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">It means that the geeks (e.g., the risk-takers, innovators, Internet enthusiasts, and the like) are the first ones to penetrate the Internet market. They set many precedents that shape the way we do business online, whether it’s through a new method, software, business model, or teaching.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">(That’s why we often call them “gurus.”)</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">We’ve seen this happen. Top marketers have entered the market, sold many a product, and made massive amounts of money. But now, things are starting to change. We’re hitting — if not crossing — the chasm.</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">One obvious piece of evidence is the recent flurry of “death of” reports. Whether they’re meant to promote something or not is a moot point&#8230;</p>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">Bottom line, these shifts represent not only a major correction affecting the world of Internet marketing, but also show the three major markets to watch out for in the coming year:</p>
<ol type="1" style="margin-top: 0in; font-size: 11pt; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-left: 0.375in; direction: ltr; font-family: Calibri; unicode-bidi: embed">
<li value="1" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; vertical-align: middle"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri">The newbie market; </span></li>
<li value="2" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; vertical-align: middle"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri">The offline market; </span></li>
<li value="3" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; vertical-align: middle"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri">The Asian market. </span></li>
</ol>
<p style="font-size: 11pt; margin: 0in; font-family: Calibri">And that’s my prediction for the new year and beyond. Watch out for these markets. Enter them. Serve them. Or get out of the way.&#8221;</p>

Why? Because they&#8217;re usually poor quality, and often shockingly inaccurate. <p>The #1 reason why 90% of people operating a web marketing business are failing to meet their desired objectives is because they are acting alone and trying to do too much with too little.</p>
<p>Too little time, too little money, too little resources, and too little HELP!</p>
<p>Sure, 5 years ago it was easy to generate 6 or 7 figure businesses operating as a one-man show.  With adWords and adsense anyone with a bit of know how could hit the sweet spot…Hell, I know plenty who make a killing and still do to this day.</p>
<p>But today as in, October 2007, the landscape is a hell of a lot tougher and you gotta have a well laid out stable of resources and time at your disposal if you want to step up your game and step up a rung on the income ladder.</p>
<p>You really need to find a team, with talent and skills that will compliment your own and you gotta share the workload and the pie too…</p>
<p>Agreed?</p>
<p>Unless you’re completely antisocial or already have a network to collaborate with then I&#8217;m pretty certain you’re asking yourself how to go about finding the best people for your team…</p>
<p>And I&#8217;d be lying if I started to tell you that it’s easy to find the right people.  Hell, I&#8217;ve jumped aboard planes and flown halfway across the world in search of the right people for teams I’ve set up over the years.</p>
<p>Attending seminars is hands down the preferred route, as long as you go there and throw your hand about the place then chances are you’ll meet some like minded people, you really cant beat the face to face thing when it comes to meeting your new team players.</p>

So now that we've established how important it is to make use of outsourcing let's look at how easy the product creation process is.

Obviously, if you don't have your own product then you can't leverage the power of amassing your own Affiliate network.

<p>More then 90% of people around the world are accustomed to the source of income known as Linear Income: trading time for money. For that reason most people are not financially independent. Linear Income, also known as work income, means you receive a paycheck based on how much work you do. You need to put in certain number of hours every week. When you stop working, your income stops. Linear Income requires continued work.</p>
<p>Residual Income is different. It is the most powerful and profitable source of income. Residual Income is the income of the rich. It is a source of income that keeps coming in on a regular basis, from work you do once - meaning even when you are not working. Residual Income is not about &#8220;get rich quick&#8221; - the principal very much misunderstood by many people. It requires effort, determination, especially in the beginning&#8230; and some time for the magic to start working.</p>
<p><strong>The Mathematics of Linear Income</strong></p>
<p>There is nothing wrong with having a Linear Income. It is considered to be an honourable form of earning a living. Some people can earn good money. Hourly wages can run from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars an hour. However, Linear Income is limited to the number of hours worked and only provides an income when you work. In other words, when you stop work, it stops.</p>
<p>Linear Income wages for most people in the West are being driven down as companies in Europe and North America keep wages low to compete with economies like China and India. Furthermore, fat-cat managers are increasingly choose to award themselves increasingly large salaries while slashing those of people lower down the ladder. (According to Business Week, in 1980, executives earned 42 times as much as the average American worker.</p>
<p>By 2000, however, American CEOs were earning 531 times the average worker&#8217;s salary.) So while Linear Income may be the manner in which most people earn their pay cheques, it is also the main reason so many of us will not be able to afford to retire until we are at least seventy.<br />
According to a recent American survey, retirement incomes of workers in every age group will fall far below their expectations. Workplace Pulse estimated workers who are 60 and plan to retire at 65 would need US $453,324 in total savings, including Social Security, to receive an annual retirement income of $26,256. A worker who is now 30 would need $1,545,972 at age 65 to meet the same expectations.</p>
<p>The report said 30 year-old workers would need to save $2,823 each month to achieve the same retirement income of $28,256. At the same time, a 60 year-old worker with $160,000 already saved would need to put away an additional $2,525 a month to retire at 65 on a $28,256 yearly income. But the survey found the average worker aged 45 to 64 is saving only $2,129 a year!<br />
The Only Solution for Most People</p>
<p>More and more people are turning to something called time leveraging to create long term Residual Income. With time leveraging, there is no hourly limit placed on your worth and money continues to come to you whether you work or not. The difference between Linear Income and Residual Income is that with Residual Income, your productive time is leveraged. That is, your time spent at work becomes increasingly worth more and more. Unlike fixed-salary employment, leveraged income has no upper limit.</p>
<p>Of the over 6,000,000 millionaires in the USA today, 20% who have reached affluence in the past two years have done so by leveraging their time&#8230; and they did it using something called referral marketing. It is no wonder that the likes of Anthony Robbins, Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki are such passionate advocates of referral marketing and developing residual income streams. As the latter says: &#8220;The richest people in the world build networks, everyone else looks for work.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Most common sources of Residual Income:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Inventors, authors, songwriters, and visual artists get royalties from their creations.</li>
<li> You earn interest on your savings account or certificate of deposit at your bank.     That&#8217;s as long as you keep the money in the bank. AT 3.5% annual percentage yield, you need to have $340,000 in your savings account to earn $1,000 per month.</li>
<li>Real estate is proven way to earn good income but it requires special expertise and a great deal of money nowadays. You need to be a real estate owner to earn Residual Income through rent. It requires continuous work to generate income.</li>
<li>Investing in stocks, bonds, venture capital, and mutual funds can be profitable, but again, they require specific knowledge and substantial capital to create enough income to live on.</li>

<p>Before we jump into mapping out the way to grab the bull by the horns and begin talking about monopolizing the  adWords PPC platform, it&#8217;s important that we first go over a basic in marketing that, in my experience, about 90% of PPC advertisers are forgetting about.</p>
<p>&#8220;In business one of the most expensive things you do on a day to day basis is acquire a new customer&#8221;</p>
<p>And knowing what their lifetime value (LTV) to you is expected to be will dictate how much you can offer to pay upfront for their custom. On the other hand, how much you can afford to pay will be down to your cash flow and cash cycles.</p>
<p>The lifetime value of a new client is almost always worth losing money to acquire, provided you&#8217;ve got a backend in place to maximize the revenue generated from that customer. Every successful business knows this as a basic rule, yet it&#8217;s something that few Affiliate Marketers are really looking at when paying for PPC traffic. Most are still stuck in the &#8216;Google Cash&#8217; flipping clicks mindset&#8230;</p>
<p>Too many people&#8230;</p>
<p>When you pay for PPC traffic you are in effect purchasing warm, targeted and potentially responsive leads. How much you should be paying for these is entirely dependant on their value to you.</p>
<p>The cost that you should be willing to pay for these is intrinsically linked to the overall value of this lead to you.</p>
<p>The auction process of adCenter or Adwords will dictate the end price that these keywords are available to you at, for the different positions (1,2,3,4,etc), but the value is something you&#8217;ve got to have worked out for yourself.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;I take ideas and give them power adding what nobody else is doing:  Things that save time, make more money or help people to better understand are all great for marketing.&#8221;</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Lifetime value is simply the value to your business over a customer&#8217;s &#8220;lifetime&#8221; with you. How much $$$ do you make from your customers over time?</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll put it in perspective:</p>
<p>To most, profitable means spending $x to make $x+ on the first sale.<br />
If they spent $100 and want to make 50% then the customer would need to be bringing in $150.</p>
<p>If they spent $1 per click and normally acquired 1 new customer per 100 clicks and they want to make 50% then the customer would need to be bringing in $150, leaving them with $50 profit out of their $100 spend.</p>
<blockquote>
<p align="center"><em>Many have been able to operate like this up to recently but since things have started changing in the PPC market they find they are no longer able - at least consistently - to get that immediate return.</em></p>
</blockquote>
<p>So first sit down and start analyzing the sales data and determine what the lifetime value of a customer acquired via PPC is to you.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a recent example (figures rounded):</p>
<p>o I have a campaign where each click is costing me about $8.<br />
o So 100 clicks costs me $800<br />
o My profit per sale is $40<br />
o So to breakeven I need 20 sales or a 20% conversion rate but in this market I&#8217;m only getting 5% and so I&#8217;m losing money and to the tune of $600 for every 5 customers I bring in. That means my cost to acquire each customer is a considerable $120.</p>
<p>Stupid huh?</p>
<p>On the face of it you could be forgiven for saying so and this is exactly where most come at it from when bidding on PPC traffic.</p>
<p>But I&#8217;m anything but stupid, don&#8217;t forget I&#8217;m a PPC Ninja. And I also know that the average customer acquired through PPC in this niche goes on to make additional purchases and over a 12 month period I can expect them to make 4.3 in total. This is market knowledge I&#8217;ve learned from last year and because of this I can afford to bid even higher to acquire new customers.</p>
<p>In fact I could afford to bid up to $65 for each new customer before it would start to look unprofitable and I&#8217;d be feeling too much heat for this kitchen.</p>
<p>100 clicks X $65 = $6,500<br />
@5% = 5 customers = $6,500 (see below)</p>
<p>Assuming last years results are mirrored in this year then I know that &#8220;on average&#8221; each customer will go through a sales funnel that exposes them to a number of additional opportunities to do business with me and my profits range from $50 on the first offer, then $300 for the second,  $85 for the third, $820 on the fourth, the fifth is $150, the sixth is $970, etc, etc…</p>
<p>If they go for 6 additional purchases then I could expect $2,375 in total as the average worth of each new customer, and many do go this far too. In fact, I&#8217;ve just added a new offer that earns me $10k per sale and it&#8217;s already brought in 6 new conversions.</p>
<p>But overall it averages out at 4.3 in total and that&#8217;s a gross worth of about $1,300</p>
<p>So not only is PPC marketing profitable, it&#8217;s more profitable than often given credit for in much of what&#8217;s touted in other PPC manuals where the focus always seems to be on the initial sale.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s a customer worth to you? That information can change the way you play in the PPC arena.</p>

The trick is to increase your visitor value first, AND ONLY AFTER YOU’VE DONE THAT, focus on increasing your traffic. Why do we do it in reverse? <p>Lifetime value is important. It&#8217;s a also a huge challenge to get someone to track this correctly.</p>
<p>Also, don&#8217;t forget about other ways to monetize that customer.</p>
<p>1. Follow up emails with related offers (inhouse, affiliate, or otherwise)</p>
<p>2. Renting the list to select &#8216;partners&#8217;</p>
<p>3. Highly targeted co-reg offers</p>
<p>Getting people to put the systems in place to track LTV can be difficult.</p>
<p>The lifetime value of a client is almost always worth losing money on. The auto industry frequently lose money on a deal because they know they would get friends, family and then that customer back again at a later date.</p>
<p><strong>What every Top Bidder knows that you don&#8217;t?</strong></p>
